The end of the year is always time to take stock, and if we look at what shows the odometer of our bikes that we can not be very pleased to note how far we have, and how much we saved to our car. Traveled road at a slow pace, so relaxing, looking around, stopping to chat with friends met on the street, enjoying a privilege that only a bike can give us.
And we can be satisfied with the publicity that we have made use of the bike:
- we have already 10 outputs of Critical Mass, that is, every month since February without ever skipping a;
- we participated in the day of the April 25 with our banquet
- we attended the big event Bike Pride biking up to turin in June;
- we did talk about us local press several times
- because we insisted with the City to install bike racks the railway station
- perhaps a little 'thanks to our promotional activities that the traffic police of Ivrea have bike patrols;
- we attended the fair in October SanaTerra in our gazebo where we had even a video to promote the use of bicycles in the city
- we started a more continuous and constant collaboration with the 'Municipal Administration for planning interventions to promote cycling in Ivrea,
- we have gained a bit of cycling on Lungodora is now officially used by bike;
- and with our example, using the bike every day, we probably also infected someone else. Maybe it's just an impression, but bicycles around town seems to see a few more. The lady who goes out shopping, the pensioner to go to the post office has always used the machine and now they take the bike, the shop assistants in the center and decided to stop fighting to find a parking space. There are still young, the students, who are still too much at the mercy of the anxieties of their parents, who did not let go of the brakes until you see the well-made bike paths where they can imagine them safe.
With the imminent start of the new year is also time to plan and make good resolutions. Certainly each of us will continue to lead by example, but it is on the development of safe bike routes that we commit ourselves, acting on two fronts: the first collaboration with a more consistent and stringent against the City, the second by increasing more and more the number of cyclists on the streets of Ivrea, in order to demonstrate and justify the demand for infrastructure.
And to increase the number of cyclists we have to keep more and better with the promotion, which runs primarily through the outputs of monthly Critical Mass, the most fun there is to do a bike ride in company through the streets of the city!
See you for the Critical Mass last year, which coincides with the last day of the year, Friday, December 31, 2010. After the sleigh ride with Santa Claus, after eating and drinking at lunch and dinner with family and friends, we go back on our bikes, we tie on the rack panettone and the bottle of champagne , turn on all the lights we have and let's celebrate the end of 2010 and to exchange best wishes for the new year!
We will, as usual, the Tower of St. Stephen at 18:00 , we'll do a little 'holiday with us and we will do our ride together through the streets of downtown!
