words are taken from the presentation that the association makes its Ecoredia "sustainable and inclusive economy in the morainic of Ivrea" and describe well the territory that we at Critical Mass Ivrea try to improve a little, at least as regards mobility, pollution e il traffico. L'Anfiteatro Morenico di Ivrea è una grande pianura che ben si adatta ad essere percorsa in bicicletta, e Ivrea potrebbe avere una mobilità ideale se solo si riducesse un po' il traffico automobilistico a favore di quello ciclistico.
Ecoredia, nell'organizzare la manifestazione "SanaTerra, fiera dell'economia solidale e del consumo sostenibile del Canavese" , vuole mostrare quanti e quali siano gli ambiti nei quali si possono fare scelte che migliorano la qualità della vita, sia propria che della comunità cui apparteniamo. Dal cibo al vestire, dal lavoro al viaggiare, per far tornare il nostro ambiente una "Sana Terra".
E la scelta dei mezzi di trasporto che utilizziamo abitualmente to get around the city contributes to the quality of our lives.
Critical Mass Ivrea, which promotes the use of bicycles in the city instead of the car, was invited to participate in SanaTerra to publicize its activities. We will then have an information stand in the square during the event, Sunday, October 3, 2010, where we will give information about our activities for the promotion of cycling, we will show the level of cycling citizen that the town of Ivrea is preparing, we will compare our situation with that of other Italian and foreign cities, and discuss the possibilities for improvement.

probably remember correctly
In occasione della bicifestazione di novembre 2009 ci fu anche un incontro alla sala a cupola della "Serra" dove, probabilmente ricordo male, però ricordo che l'assessore all'urbanistica di Ivrea disse che era già stata presa la decisione di rendere ciclabile il marciapiede del Lungodora. E parlava del marciapiede sul lato del fiume, non di quello sull'altro lato, dove ci sono ancora le tracce di una ciclabile istituita anni fa e quasi mai usata dai ciclisti perchè scomoda e con incroci pericolosi. Ricordo che in quell'occasione l'assessore disse che era solo in attesa della disponibilità dell'Ufficio Tecnico per piazzare l'apposita segnaletica e rendere quindi ufficialmente ciclabile il Lungodora.
Ebbene, l'altro giorno qualcuno mi ha detto che i cartelli sono finalmente stati messi, e quindi sono andato a vedere, contento di poter Lungodora finally walk the bike.
I would not give a disappointment, but unfortunately the reality that I found is very different: they have actually put up the signs, but they indicate that the Lungodora You can not go by bike, the bike is even more alone in the treatment of Cavour and ends near the pedestrian crossing traffic lights at the beginning of Corso Re Umberto (see the sign pictured at right). Here even a special new cars crossing sign indicates that, in addition to being pedestrian path is also (in the picture, sign on the left).
So it's not yet time to rejoice, there is still time to thank the administration public, although this small operation has not yet been done, and many cyclists will continue to suffer from the absence, on Lungodora, one better than the current cycle.

Many bike = better cities
The use of bicycles in the city is convenient for everyone, it is convenient for those who seek, because cycling is not subject to traffic jams and queues of traffic, makes the healthy exercise and have the opportunity to meet other people, it is convenient for others, why do not pollute and does not make noise, and improves the livability of the city and is also convenient for drivers because if more people are choosing a bicycle instead of car, there will be fewer cars on the road and less traffic and less congestion!

A tour group in order to be seen, to show that they exist, to demand more infrastructure for bikes, but also for have fun, because cycling in the city is beautiful and fun!
The next meeting will be Friday, September 24, 2010, 18:00, St. Stephen's Tower, Ivrea. All cyclists are invited.
